Account data: When you sign up, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
Recipe data: Recipes you save, meal plans you create, and shopping lists are stored on our servers to sync across your devices.
Usage data: We record which Gratly pages and features are used (for example, that a recipe was saved, a timer was started, or a meal was planned), with technical details such as browser or device type, operating system, screen size, language, app version, and an approximate location (country or city) based on your IP address. When you are signed in, these events are linked to your account ID so we can see how the product is used over time. They never include your recipe content, notes, or email address. We do not track you across other websites. You can turn this off for each browser or device in Settings on the web and on the Account screen of the mobile app. The Chrome extension does not have this setting yet.
Reports: If you report content, we store your report and account email to review it.
We use your data to provide, maintain, and improve Gratly. Specifically:
The Gratly Chrome extension runs locally in your browser. Recipe extraction happens entirely on your device, and we do not send full page content to our servers just to detect or extract a recipe.
The extension sends data to our servers only when you ask it to do something that requires syncing or AI processing. That can include saving an extracted recipe, syncing shopping-list items, sending recipe ingredients for substitutions or nutrition estimates, sending recipe content for diet conversion, or sending a social-video URL when you request an import from TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube.
The extension also sends the usage events described above, such as a recipe being extracted or saved. For an extraction, that includes the website's domain name (for example, allrecipes.com), never the full page address or its content.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties except:
These features use AI: nutrition estimates, ingredient substitutions, diet conversion, importing recipes from social links, photos (OCR) and pasted text, meal suggestions, “what can I make” search, and shopping-list cleanup. When you use one, the specific recipe, ingredients, shopping-list items, text, photo, or link needed for that request is sent to our AI provider, OpenAI, to generate the result. This data is not used to train AI models.
Photos you import are sent to OpenAI to read the recipe. Gratly does not keep the imported photo after processing. Photos you add to a recipe yourself are stored with that recipe.
Your data is stored on secured servers. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We retain your data as long as your account is active.
You can delete your account in the mobile app (Account → Delete account), on the web (Settings → Delete account) or at gratly.app/delete-account. Deletion is permanent and removes your recipes, plans, lists and uploads; an active subscription is cancelled. A few records are kept after deletion, such as support messages, reports, and payment records; the deletion page lists them.
We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in). Our analytics does not set cookies, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
You can access, export, or delete your data at any time. To access or export it, visit your account settings. To delete your account, use the mobile app (Account → Delete account), the web (Settings → Delete account) or gratly.app/delete-account; deletion is permanent and removes your recipes, plans, lists and uploads, and an active subscription is cancelled. We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice.
